The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. - Mahatma Gandhi
- Heart Walk:
The American Heart Association holds the Heart Walk every year to raise funds for this country's No. 1 and No. 3 killer - heart disease and stroke. BBC students formed a team for this event and raised ~$300. They also joined thousands of other volunteers on an early Saturday morning to raise awareness around Tampa Bay. - Charit-a-Bull:
Charit-a-bull is a creative canned food drive at the University of South Florida. Teams form to collect canned food to donate to Tampa Metropolitan Ministries. This food is sent to families in need who live in the Tampa community. BBC students collected 350 canned goods, and then participated in a competition to design and build the most creative sculpture using the cans. The BBC won 3rd place, but the real winners were the families right here in Tampa.
- Foster Angels of Hillsborough County Inc.:
For the holiday season, BBC students participated in the Foster Angel program to help give gifts to foster children in the Tampa area. Students raised over $50 and provided gifts to an 8 year old boy, a 1 year old boy, and a 14 year old girl. Find out more information about this program here.
Students are already planning more service projects to participate in for the spring semester. Stay tuned!
